I read on social media last week that there would be the opportunity of meeting some real reindeer this week at the Ice Arena.

So I popped down in my lunch hour to take a look and to take some photos.

There were three in total, but sadly they didn't come from Lapland, but Peterborough. The Woodbine Rare Breeds Farm actually, and were being looked after by a non-elfish elf.

They seemed quite happy to walk around the penned area in Bolero Square, eating, or scratching at the straw. One had even fallen asleep.

There was an entrance fee of a small donation to raise money for a local charity called Framework that looks after the homeless. So it was all in a good cause.

Spring Is Almost Here

We popped over to a local garden centre near West Bridgford this afternoon, to look at plants, as Gail was especially keen on getting some rhubarb plants for presents for some friends of ours.

It's a very big garden centre and they sell practically everything to do with a person's outside space. Looking around, I noticed a trolley full of resin birds and animals.

There were dogs, cats, pigs, chickens and this very cute spring lamb. A shame that he is made of hard plastic, rather than soft wool, as he would be really cuddly to touch.

Farmyard Frolics

Another market stall. This one is selling models of sheep, pigs and ducks. As you can see they were commanding a fair bit of interest from the shoppers. I wonder how many found new homes. A bit different garden feature don't you think?
