Paint Pots

There's a new exhibition on at the Contemporary by artist Michael Beutler.

A strange one too, as he has rebuilt his exhibition that he had at Spike Island in Bristol, and it's called Pump House.

The exhibition basically consists of rooms that have been made out of recycled materials and rubbish.

It's certainly different, and colourful in places, where he has made walls out of card, or plastic bags stuffed into small wire cages.

But my photographic eye spotted this little still life scene of some jars of paint randomly placed in a group, contrasted by a blue rubber glove.

Art Of Decay

Back in March I met Italian artist Roberto Alborghetti at Barton's when he launched his Ghost Bus film, which used lots of close up photos of the decaying coach set to music.

He recently put up a new film that used photos he took of some cracked and decayed blue and white tiles on the Amalfi Coast, which looked like the sea and land on a map.

So I got thinking as to whether I could make one myself, with my limited talent and computer skills. I also wondered what I could use for a subject matter. An obvious choice was our wooden garage doors that have seen better days, with peeling paint and a bit of rot.

So I took some photos, fiddled with them in Lightroom and created a short, 40 second film in iMovie.  I also added some music from Kitaro and uploaded it to YouTube.

Here's the link to the video, so you can see for yourselves. Enjoy.

Abstract Saturday

A bit of a colourful abstract today for a change. Something a little different for a cold Saturday.

If you are wondering what it is, and I am sure many of you are; well it's one of the painted concrete floors of a local multi-storey car park.

There's Always Someone Looking At You

Here's some hidden art. I say hidden, because you'd only see it if you made a point of going there, as it's a bit out of the way and not part of the main thoroughfare. A shame really, as it's quite a striking picture.
