Remembering

Today is of course Remembrance Sunday. The day when everyone thinks about all the soldiers, sailors and airmen that have died for our freedom. The poppy being the emblem for this event.

I'd like to think about the people left at home. Those that have lost a husband, a wife, a family member or a best friend. People who will have to live without their loved one.

So this single rose which I came across in Radicofani, Italy is for them.  The rose, the symbol of love.

Roses Are Red

One of the few roses that we have growing in the garden.

It's quite high up and difficult to get to, so I don't know if it has a scent or not.

Anyway it looks nice.

Love Never Dies

March the 1st, and it's theme day in the world of the Daily Photo blogs.

This months theme is ageing. Of course we all get older by the second, but love never dies.

As proof of this, Gail bought me this rose for Valentine's Day. It's lasted well over the last two weeks, but sadly I had to put it in the compost bin, as it has aged and the petals were very dry and getting ready to fall off and make a bit of a mess.

Love

Today is of course Valentine's Day, where people show love for each other. Although this really should happen every day, and not just once a year.

Things were no different in the Frost household. Here's the card and friendly love dragon that I got for Gail. And of course there had to be a single red rose.

Crumbs

The second Great Beeston Bake Off took place today at a local school to raise funds for Oxfam.

Nearly thirty people took part in the baking competition and produced all sorts of wonderful cakes and buns. I had a particularly delicious slice of banana loaf, and of course I just had to get Gail one too, as I know how much she likes it.

There were four winners altogether and they all received a framed certificate. There were plenty of visitors who donated money whilst munching the goodies on offer. In total £400 was raised for projects, both home and abroad.
