On Patrol

The Captain wasn't quite sure what was happening. He had heard stories from his men, that there was some strange purple coloured plant that was trying to take over the ground in his area of command.

He hadn't seen any. But hadn't dismissed it, as he trusted his fellow meerkats and the fact that they always told the truth.

So he decided to have a look himself. He got up and had a look around. Yes, it was true, the purple weed had surrounded him. There was no escape.

Fortunately the assistant at my local B&Q store, picked him up and put hime back on the shelf with his mates.

Army Dreamers

Here's one of the army vehicles that were on display in the Old Market Square the other day.

A big green truck. I think it would make a very good conversion into a camper van. Plenty of space and high up, so you would get a good view from such a high position. Especially if you put a little skylight in the roof.

Review Of The Year - July & August

The summer wasn't too bad with the sunny weather. Although it was rather cloudy when I went to London for the day in July. Besides taking my favourite 45mm lens, I took along my Samyang fisheye lens. It worked very well on this unusual shot of the BT Tower.

August saw me spending the day at Tank Mania in Leicestershire, with some other photographers and a load of models. It was quite a muddy day, and three of the models decided to get down and dirty in a large muddy and very deep puddle. I prefer my models to be armed and dangerous like Kat here.

In The Days Before Television

Model shooting night tonight, and this time we had two models to play with; Nicole and Robert.

The scene tells the story of Robert, a soldier in the 1870s, who is spending the last hours with Nicole, his daughter or niece, before going off to fight in the Zulu war in Africa.

With no television to watch, people had to make their own entertainment in the past, so a simple game of cards in candlelight is in order, rather than singing happy songs on the piano, as they both know that this may be the last time that they will see each other again.

Dad's Army

Here's a candid shot of one of the people that like to dress up as World War 2 soldiers, whom I came across last month at Wollaton Park.

He's having a bit of snap before pretending to go into battle again.

The Horse Whisperer

Alas, I haven't found anything worth photographing today, although the sun has shined for a while. I even managed to cut the rather soggy hedge without electrocuting myself!

So here's a rather colourful portrait of a member of the Sealed Knot, who were demonstrating their battle skills at Wollaton Park last Sunday.

He looks very smart in his yellow and black jacket, with little red and yellow hat. I am amazed at how much effort that these groups put into creating their uniforms, as I doubt that they are originals. So they must do a great deal of research into the material used, colours etc. Maybe they have looked at and had access to similar garments in museums.

However they got the information; well done to creating such an authentic looking costume.
