War?

Tonight our MPs decide on whether the UK will join in with the bombing of Syria.

I'm not going to go into the yes/no discussion here, just to tell you the there has been a very large 'no' demonstration this evening in the city centre.

People of all ages collected by the Brian Clough statue and some people take about why it is not a good idea to drop even more bombs on the already war torn country.

They then marched around the immediate vicinity waving their placards and shouting "Don't bomb Syria".

It was a peaceful rally. In fact I didn't see any police hanging about. Plenty of people with cameras though; there to capture the moment, just like me.

From Pillar To Post

Whilst we were shooting Josh, there was some activity going on in the nearby street, in that a big crane was lifting giant concrete posts onto the new bridge which goes over the road and is part of the new tram route into the city centre.

Day And Night

I did some market research tonight about mortgages and the location was the top floor of the Britannia Hotel on Maid Marian Way.

I arrived there at around 6pm, and finished just after 7.30, and you can tell that the nights are really drawing in now, as you can see the lights of the building glowing in the dark.

Shame about the bit of reflection in the bottom picture. I tried to block all the light out from the room, but it was quite difficult, as there were no curtains available, only a picture frame.

Never Hurry A Curry

Gail and I went to The Curry Lounge tonight, as they were celebrating their sixth birthday and launching their new menu for the year.

And as an act of generosity and philanthropy, Raz the owner and head chef was doing a special 50% discount on the cost of the food and also doing a special donation to charity.

The restaurant was heaving with people enjoying some top quality nosh and getting to meet the main man himself.

The food was of course delicious. So it's no wonder that the place had won a number of awards for it's cuisine.

If you do live in Nottingham, or are planning to visit the city and fancy a delicious ruby. Then you know where to go.

Here's a LINK to their website.

Steaming Ahead

Gail has got herself a new camera. Something a little smaller and neater for her to carry around on a daily basis. It is an Olympus OMD. The one that Damian McGillycuddy let us have a go with the other week. So as a change to my hefty Nikon, I took the little DSLR for a stroll around the city centre. As it is a micro 4/3rds camera, my Panasonic lenses fitted it. So I had a go with the 20mm pancake lens. Although it came with an small zoom lens. The small buttons took some getting used to, as I'm more familiar with the chunkier Nikon ones. The weather wasn't very good, so I didn't really see anything exciting to snap. Except this scene of some council workers steam cleaning the pavement. Removing chewing gum I think. The one thing that I do like about the OMD, is it's ability to take a photo and record it using several different art filters at the same time. There are at least twelve. This is one of my favourite filters, as it gives the picture a slight HDR appearance, without it looking too unrealistic.
