A photo a day from the famous East Midlands city, its surroundings, and wherever the photographic journey takes me.

My, What Big Eyes You've Got
"All the better to watch you get my food ready".
So thinks Oscar, as he watches me from the comfort of his cuddly bed.
And yes, Oscar certainly loves his food. and is forever pestering us to get him some. he is very partial to ham, and always knows when there's some in the fridge. As he will sit patiently waiting for a slice or two, just like Oliver Twist.

Eyes, Whiskers And A Little Pink Nose
Oscar is a very photogenic cat, and he doesn't seem to mind having his photo taken.
Here he is looking all sweet and innocent whilst posing for the camera. In reality he is just sitting patiently for food, like some feline Oliver Twist.

Facing The Future
Walking through the Lace Market at lunchtime today with a pal from work, we came across a road that was closed due to some building work that was going on.
Whilst my mate was talking to one of the construction workers about what sort of building they were putting up, incidentally some more students flats, I was looking around and what the construction site was like, I noticed this silver face staring at me.
He didn't say anything at all, even when I took his photo. He was a strange looking creature. Not very tall. For a moment I thought he was related to the Cybermen, as he face was silver colour. Then I realised that he was actually the side and handle of an industrial sized wheelie bin!

Follow The Arrow
Two new exhibitions have just opened at the Contemporary. One is about the work of Geoffrey Black; a Canadian artist who seems to make work out of rubbish, and Asco, a group of American artists who got together in the early 70s and who made some strange photographs.
So too very different but similarly odd forms of art. Not really to my taste. But I was interested in the fact that one of the big windows had been completely blacked out, except for a couple of peep holes, where you got an idea of what was going on inside.
I noticed that a lot of people had looked through the 'eyes' and had left their imprint of their foreheads and noses, so it looks exactly like a face, who's wearing an unusual hat.

Smudge
Besides adopting Marmalade & Oscar, we seem to have attracted the attention of another cat, that we have called Smudge.
We have no idea of where he came from, or goes to; as he is a regular visitor, rather than a squatter, like Marmalade was before we officially adopted him.
Smudge is quite a playful and affectionate cat, but O & M are weary of him. Probably because he hasn't been to the vets yet for that all important snip.
I have suggested to Gail that we put a collar on him, and attach a note to his owners, if he has one, saying that he is a visitor to our house, and always seems hungry.
When he does visit, he always likes to hide under a garden chair. We usually give him some food that neither Marmalade or Oscar want, as they are getting quite fussy now, and only certain flavours will do.
