A Bird's Eye View

I'm sorry that I haven't blogged in nearly a week. It's just that I have been busy editing a load of photos that I've taken recently for a couple of people, who asked me to do some photography for them.

But normal service is being resumed.

So today I took my daily commute through Highfields as usual, when I noticed a bird standing on a bench and looking out towards the lake.

Now there's an interesting shot I thought. So I got off my bike, and gently crept towards the seat, so not as to frighten the bird, which I think is a young Canada goose.

I took a few shots, as I thought he might fly away at any time. But no, he just stood there, watching the other birds on the lake. So I inched a bit closer, then a bit closer still, until I was crouched down at the side of the bench, and took a few more shots.

I had my Pentacom vintage lens on my Olympus camera, so some of them didn't come out too well, but I like this one, as you can see him studying the action on the lake.

And before anyone quizzes me, no the bird didn't have one leg. He was just doing a Long John Silver impression. He had raised his other leg. Maybe resting it.

Two Seater

Well the first day of our week's holiday, and what does it do all day but rain.

So have been indoors all day pottering around.

I didn't really get the opportunity of doing any photography, so here's one I took last week when it was sunny.

Yes, it's another shot from Highfields. I feel quite lucky that I have a good park on my doorstep, although I do wish sometimes that there was more things to photograph, like statues or flowers. Although it does make you look for things to take a picture of. Things that might pass you by, like the shadow that has been created by this bench.

Contemplation

A very simple shot from Highfields.

I bet the person sitting on the bench is enjoying the peace and quiet of the open green space.

Cool Reflection

We had another torrential rainfall last night. It seemed to last for hours, so I was expecting a fair bit of water around this morning on my way to work.

I was surprised that it was sunny though, and so did my first cycle ride through Highfields of 2014, to see what things were like, as I had not been round for a couple of months.

Of course there was plenty of big puddles about, but I decided to take a photo of this one. Of course the reflection of the bench helped, but I also like it that you can see the blue sky mirrored in the water, and the trees acting as a natural frame.
