A photo a day from the famous East Midlands city, its surroundings, and wherever the photographic journey takes me.

Flyover
Well we made it to Lincoln for the day to celebrate my birthday & our wedding anniversary.
It was quite a nice, relaxing day all round, as the sun came out now and again. But it stayed dry, and that was the main thing.
We parked up and had a stroll along the cobbled streets, looking in the different shops. Gail wanted to visit this particular shop that sold vintage clothes and bric a brac. There was quite a good selection of stuff on offer. I just wonder where it all comes from though, as there seems to be so much of it about these days, even though it might be between 40 and 70 years old. Also at what age does something stop being vintage?
We also stopped off here and there to do a spot of photography. I like this abstract figures sculpture that fly over the River Witham as it cuts its way along the Waterside area. According to the information on the map that we picked up from the tourist office, the sculpture is called Empowerment. It was created in 2002 by artist Stephen Broadbent.

Down The Smoke
A trip to London for the day today. Probably the last time through work, so I thought I had better find something to photograph.
After leaving the office on the Euston Road there's about a twenty minute walk to St Pancras Station. But as the meeting finished a bit early, I had some extra time before catching my train back to Nottingham.
So I started to walk down Tottenham Court Road as part of the detour route I thought I'd take. When I reached the junction with Oxford Street. I stopped and had a look around. Looking up, I saw this tower block, which was probably built during the early 1960s. Lots and lots of identical storeys, which makes for a good abstract shot.

Bricking It
I spent some time this afternoon sorting, cleaning and stacking hundreds of bricks that were removed from the house earlier in the week.
The plasterer came yesterday and spent all day giving us a new ceiling, filling in the gap between the two walls and other parts of the two rooms, that now are beginning to look like one.
I hope to have a couple of days off this week so I can paint the ceiling and varnish the floor. Just have to remember to use the pots the right way round and do the ceiling first!
The house is still in a topsy turvy state, as we've tried to cram six rooms full of stuff into four. We will be getting rid of some stuff either through Ebay or down to the charity shop. Some will be used in our new studio as props etc.
It's going to be a long journey, but at least the worst is over with. I'm not sure what I am going to be doing with these bricks yet. But they always come in handy for a garden project or two.
