Keeping Watch

Marmalade really does like stowing himself away in the garage, for a bit of peace & quiet, and not to be bothered by Oscar.

Gail made him a new resting place the other week, with some new boxes and an old blanket neatly folded, to make him a comfortable resting place. Which he seems to love.

I got him here, as he was just waking up and ready to come in the house for some food.

Pussy Galore

It's not everyday that you get sent a Christmas card from your pets.

But Gail & I got one today from Oscar & Marmalade.

It was quite clever of them to choose, buy, write and post this card to us. I bet Marmalade chose it, as the cat in the stocking has the same colouring as our ginger one. Besides which, Oscar being so big, I don't think he would fit!

I bet the mischievous pair are now wondering what treats they will be getting for presents. We will probably get the a few packets of luxury meat and possibly some new toys to play with. Although they do seem to like playing with bits of string that they come across.

Purrfect

Spotted this little sign at the market that took place today in the Old Market Square.

Gail and I have double love, as many of you know we have two cats called Oscar & Marmalade. I think they love us as much as we love them. Well they certainly love us when it's feeding time, as Oscar tends to sidle up to us and wrap himself round our legs, while Marmalade just sits down and stares up at me until I follow him into the kitchen.

Still Life

Marmalade chilling out on the drive, enjoying a little bit of sunshine.

A minute or two later and he was asleep. Oh to be a cat.

What A Card

Well here's a card that I never would have expected to get ever, as I am not a parent, or ever likely to be.

It was a little joke on Gail's part, as she put Oscar & Marmalade down as my 'children'. Which I suppose they are in a way, as we are responsible for their safekeeping, welfare, health and love. They give us companionship, a certain amount of love and an empty wallet in return.

We wouldn't be without them and we are so glad that they decided that we are good enough to be their parents.

Another Forty Winks

It's not just Oscar that's found a new place to sleep, Marmalade's got one too. Inside a cardboard box which we've stored in the garage.

Marmalade snuck into the garage when I was putting my bike away this evening. I knew he had gone in, but decided to leave him in there for a while, as he does like to have a bit of "me time" away from everything.

Some time later Gail called me, as she had opened the garage door and saw mim dozing in the box, that had some paper packing in it. Fortunately he was facing the garage window, so I could take a photo of him through the glass. Doesn't he look cute with using one of the box flaps as a pillow.

Here's Looking At You Kid

Here's Marmalade looking out on the world from the safety of our garage.

The window is quite grimy, but I think it makes the photo more interesting, as it gives it a soft, cinematic look, rather than the bright and shiny Tecnicolor shots that we are more used to today.

Marmalade quite likes to have a snoop around in the garage. He's not really a mouser cat, but can often pick up their scent of where they have been.

Sunday Siesta

A dull afternoon here in Beeston, and Marmalade thinks it is better to have a nap on the settee, instead of going out in the cold and wet.

Wise cat.

Marmalade

Marmalade enjoying a bit of early morning sunshine. Our little cat is getting on in years now, and he now has to have a pill each day to keep him well. But he still enjoys life in his own way, and is very dear to us.

Paws For Thought

I also came across this message at the garden centre, that spoke to me, as an owner of two cats.

I would say that both our lives have changed since Marmalade and Oscar joined our household some years ago. They have certainly left their mark on our hearts, and wallets, as they only seem to eat expensive cat food!

Cat Day Afternoon

Well it's fortunate that we had our barbecue yesterday, as all its done today is rain. Rain, rain, rain. I'm not sure that it's even stopped.

Marmalade has been sleeping in one of the chairs that we have in our study room, whilst as you can see, Oscar has made himself very comfortable on our bed and surrounded by laundry.

It sure is a cat's life. If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I'm coming back as a cat. Eating & sleeping. The two best things in life.

Marmalade

As most people know, besides eating, cats like to sleep. And Marmalade sure does love his naps.

He changes his favourite place to sleep every so often, whether it in his basket, on a chair or in this case, his new spot near the top of the stairs.

I took the first photo, as he looked so content, although he was aware that I was taking his photo. A little later I went back, and he had changed position and was well away, even though his feet and tail were hanging over the edge of the stair.

On Patrol

I haven't posted a photo of Marmalade in a while now, so I thought you might like to see this one.

He followed me into the garage the other day and had no intention of coming out, no matter how much I called him.

Marmalade actually likes to hide away in the garage sometimes. Although he and Oscar get on quite well, the ginger one does enjoy his own space, and what could be better than a big old garage to hide in.

Here he is seeing what's happening in the garden from the safety of a window.

Curly-Whirly

Not a brilliant photo, as there's too much noise, but I couldn't resist showing you this photo of Marmalade asleep that Gail took the other evening.

I mentioned that he was sleeping in such a strange position, so Gail quickly grabbed her camera, but forgot about the settings, as she usually shoots in manual.

So I've tweaked it a little bit in Lightroom, so it looks a little bit like a painting.

Review Of The Year - March & April

Most of March seemed to be a really snowy. Marmalade certainly knew the best place in the house to keep warm. It wasn't a very good one for me either, as I had to start a new job, after nearly 12 years in the old one

The bad weather had gone by April and Gail & I took a trip up to Whitby in Yorkshire to see the Steampunk and Goth festival that takes place there twice a year. There were certainly some interesting costumes, and Whitby is a very nice, old fashioned seaside town, with quite a picturesque harbour.

Cat On A Hot Tin Radiator

A bit more snow today, so I didn't bother going out, as I had a few jobs to do around the house.

So here's a shot from yesterday of Marmalade, who had made himself comfortable on top of the radiator in the conservatory.

But don't worry, the radiator wasn't on very high. But then I don't suppose Marmalade would be laid there if it was.

Here Is The News

Here's our little Marmalade trying to read a newspaper. I don't think he was doing very well. Not because he can't actually read, but he's trying to read it upside-down.

Sitting Pretty

Here's a shot of a very proud looking Marmalade.

He hasn't been a guest on Nottingham Daily Photo in a while, so I thought I would pop up a picture of him, as a Sunday treat for you all.
