A photo a day from the famous East Midlands city, its surroundings, and wherever the photographic journey takes me.

Laid Out Like Lamb And Lettuce
Our little Oscar can always find somewhere to take it easy. And with this warm weather that we are currently getting, he obviously prefers to be outside.
So does Gail. And when I came home from work the other day, I found them both relaxing on the patio. Gail was sitting, eating an ice cream, while Oscar was stretched out on a large plastic box, where we store some of the garden tools.
He looked so comfortable and contented. So much so, that he didn't mind having his photo taken, yet again!

Keeping Watch
Marmalade really does like stowing himself away in the garage, for a bit of peace & quiet, and not to be bothered by Oscar.
Gail made him a new resting place the other week, with some new boxes and an old blanket neatly folded, to make him a comfortable resting place. Which he seems to love.
I got him here, as he was just waking up and ready to come in the house for some food.

My, What Big Eyes You've Got
"All the better to watch you get my food ready".
So thinks Oscar, as he watches me from the comfort of his cuddly bed.
And yes, Oscar certainly loves his food. and is forever pestering us to get him some. he is very partial to ham, and always knows when there's some in the fridge. As he will sit patiently waiting for a slice or two, just like Oliver Twist.

Wherever I Lay My Cat, That's My Home
Gail and I are currently moving some furniture around in our house and doing a bit of a spring clean.
Oscar though wasn't too impressed, as he had lost (for now) one of his usual napping places.
Still, it didn't take him that long to find another. Our upside down pouffe to be precise. So it seems that a cat can sleep just about anywhere.

Feeling Ruff
Poor Oscar. He doesn't look that pleased with the tutu that Gail put on him as a bit of fun.
He walked around the house trying to get it off him. He wouldn't keep still long enough for me to get a good shot, so sadly he is a little blurred in places.

Forty Winks
Here's another photo of Oscar asleep. He sure does love dozing and really does make sure that he is really comfortable while he's doing it.
I don't know how many hours in the day he does sleep, but it's certainly a lot more than me. Maybe because a cat only lives around 10 years, while a human it's 70. So perhaps one day for us is equal to a week for them. Maybe there isn't any truth in my idea, but maybe it explains why Oscar sleeps for about three quarters of a day.

Sleepy Time
Our little Oscar. You must agree that he is so photogenic. I just can't seem to stop taking photos of him. Especially when he's sleeping like a baby, and snoring quietly to himself.

Eyes, Whiskers And A Little Pink Nose
Oscar is a very photogenic cat, and he doesn't seem to mind having his photo taken.
Here he is looking all sweet and innocent whilst posing for the camera. In reality he is just sitting patiently for food, like some feline Oliver Twist.

Sleeping On The Job
Here's another shot of Oscar in the Land of Nod. Curled up on a wicker chair and using the arm as a pillow.
He was snoring at one point, which made me turn round and look at him. A gentle little snore, with a bit of a whistle. So I just had to take his photo.
Maybe next time I'll video him in action.

Pussy Galore
It's not everyday that you get sent a Christmas card from your pets.
But Gail & I got one today from Oscar & Marmalade.
It was quite clever of them to choose, buy, write and post this card to us. I bet Marmalade chose it, as the cat in the stocking has the same colouring as our ginger one. Besides which, Oscar being so big, I don't think he would fit!
I bet the mischievous pair are now wondering what treats they will be getting for presents. We will probably get the a few packets of luxury meat and possibly some new toys to play with. Although they do seem to like playing with bits of string that they come across.

The Bear Necessities
Oscar asleep again on the settee.
This time he's using the cats' teddy bear as a pillow.
Sweet dreams Oscar!

Can I Come Too?
Sorry for the low quality and blurred image. Definitely not up to my usual standard, but I quickly had to grab my camera, as Gail called me into the living room.
You see we are currently in the middle of packing for our week long trip to Tuscany in Italy which starts tomorrow, and Oscar had this idea of wanting to come with us. He thought by trying to climb into one of our suitcases we wouldn't notice. But he is quite a big fellow, and would certainly have made the suitcase overweight.
Better luck next time Oscar!

Purrfect
Spotted this little sign at the market that took place today in the Old Market Square.
Gail and I have double love, as many of you know we have two cats called Oscar & Marmalade. I think they love us as much as we love them. Well they certainly love us when it's feeding time, as Oscar tends to sidle up to us and wrap himself round our legs, while Marmalade just sits down and stares up at me until I follow him into the kitchen.

Peek-a-Boo
He's young Oscar up to mischief on the stairs. I can see you, you little monkey, it's no good trying to hide behind the bannister. And don't scratch the carpet!

Posing Pussy
Today is apparently International Cat Day, and clearly Oscar is well aware of this, with the way he is relaxing on our garden seat. Laid out like lamb and lettuce, as the saying goes.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon
What's better than having a doze on the sofa during Sunday afternoon? Well maybe snoozing whilst cuddled up to one of your favourite soft toys.
Oscar looks like he is really comfortable resting with Horace the teddy bear.
No cat was disturbed whilst this photo was taken.

Oscar
Here's another shot of our little Oscar. Well he's not that little actually, but he's still adorable.
You may remember me telling you about Marmalade and how he had found a quiet little haven in the garage. Well now Oscar has found it as well, so it's a race as to who gets there first.

Laid Out Like Lamb & Lettuce
Can a cat's life get any better? Oscar stretched on on Gail's sun lounger, enjoying the warm weather that we are currently getting.

What A Card
Well here's a card that I never would have expected to get ever, as I am not a parent, or ever likely to be.
It was a little joke on Gail's part, as she put Oscar & Marmalade down as my 'children'. Which I suppose they are in a way, as we are responsible for their safekeeping, welfare, health and love. They give us companionship, a certain amount of love and an empty wallet in return.
We wouldn't be without them and we are so glad that they decided that we are good enough to be their parents.

Boxing Clever
It's now Oscar's turn to find a comfy spot in the garage. He's gone for being on a box, unlike Marmalade, who likes sleeping in a box, as I showed you recently.
The little rogue didm't want to come out this morning, as I was getting my bike out ready to go to work. So I put a bowl of food and water in the garage and left him to it.
I sent a text to Gail telling her about Oscar. Fortunately she was only working half a day today, so Gail was able to let him out when she got home.
