This weatherbeaten & waterstained carving is on a building tucked away along a little side street off Mansfield Road. With the head covering she's wearing, to me she looks like either a nun or a nurse. One for the architectural historians I think.
A photo a day from the famous East Midlands city, its surroundings, and wherever the photographic journey takes me.

It looks like a lot of acid rain is doing-in the carving. I am surprised it has not been cleaned and then protected as some cities are now doing. It is either do that now or one day wake up and the featured on their carving are lost forever.
ReplyDeleteNice photo though.

Nice detail. It's one of those things no one but tourists really notices, even though they walk by every day.
