A photo a day from the famous East Midlands city, its surroundings, and wherever the photographic journey takes me.

Water, Water Everywhere
Yesterday was about the wettest on record, with about one month's rain falling in one day. Some parts of Nottingham have been flooded. We've got off lightly where I live. But I had a bit of difficulty cycling into work, as I had to ride through a mini ocean, as one of the drains couldn't cope with the amount of water and had turned into a fountain.

we have the same but not too much water like you do there but in the south part of Germany they do have flood :o(
ReplyDeleteThat is a reminder. Your photo reminds me that a long time ago we had water shooting up out of the drain like this except it lifted the lid off and the water was about as high up as a man is tall. The lid was heavy iron.
ReplyDeleteWe are dry here in Ohio. And we are hot and humid. We are having weather here like we would normally have in August.
Nice photo.
Interesting narrative.

The situation is even worse a little further North -- please spare a thought for the people of Sheffield
ReplyDeleteThis is not good, wondered if you would be having problems, tell me about it, it is so like our city was two weeks ago, sorry.
ReplyDeleteSome parts of Britain have been severely affected by the rain. Sheffield has been one of the worst victims as Mandy points out. Worksop in North Nottinghamshire has also been cut off. More rain is expected today.
