Show's Over
The other day, Marley on the Cheltenham site showed an empty disused Odeon cinema. So here's Nottingham's version. It shut several years ago, with the introduction of a Multiplex called Showcase. There were plans to build a hotel on the site, but they have been withdrawn. The Beatles too played there in 1964 and mile long queues formed in 1977 when Star Wars arrived.

Ah, sad days when these old theatres close.
ReplyDeleteAlso to build that Hotel, uck.
Are buildings today better that those of yester year. Me thinks not.
Really sad to see this. Our Odeon here in Guelph is now a medical centre.

Another one bites the dust. When I did a bit of research into Odeon I was suprised to find dozens have closed in the last few years.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link in your text :)
We had an Odeon Cinema here too but sadly it was demolished too. Those were nice memories of the time my hubby and I were dating. :)
ReplyDeletethat's too bad! i wish they kept the historic place where the beatles played!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt does look run down. I can't say I've ever been to an Odeon cinema.
