Signing Up

Derby Road is also known as the A52, and is a busy road through Nottingham. One end goes to Stoke on Trent and the other arrives at the seaside town of Skegness. The section that joins Derby is dedicated to the former football manager Brian Clough; who in the 1970's had some success with local team Nottingham Forest. He died some years ago, and the team linger on in the lower rungs of the football ladder, and are nowhere as successful as they once were.

  1. Forest just got promotion to Championship the end of last season.
They have not started off so well this season with a draw and a loss.

True that they are not nearly as good as in the 70's but hopefully a return to the premeirship in the next few years.

I noticed your comment in her blog.

So, since I've gotten addicted to her photos of your area, I guess you've gained a new follower. :-)

  5. The man himself. The best England manager we never had. Lve this image, it really has a magical feel.

  6. I lived on Derby Road, Stapleford. I also met Brian Clough when I took my class to Nottingham Forest! I spent 10 years in Nottingham...happy days.
But I missed the sea and the moors, now I am home.

  7. I lived on a Derby Road growing up in a police house in Wednesbury. Talk about a flash from the past. It wasn't long ago that I did a google satellite search and zoomed in on it pretty closely. Yep, still looked the same. I enjoyed this photo on many levels.
