Another One Bites The Dust
Here's the latest victim of the demolition gang. Scheduled to be flattened sometime next week. It's located on the corner of Lincoln and Clumber Street and has been empty for some time. I don't know what will be going up in its place, but I'm sure with a bit of TLC and a lick of paint, this building would look better than anything they decide to put in its place.

Ideal for flats?
ReplyDeletei definitely agree with you. they should at least keep the victorian flavour instead of replacing it completely w/ a super modern structure.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Looks like a lot of potential there.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a new HQ for HSBC. Came through the planning committee a few months ago. The problem with the building is that inside, there are lots and lots of different levels. Making it properly accessible would have involved completely gutting the building, propping up the facade, and then building a new inside. The facade simply wasn't worth that much effort! I'm looking on the Council's website for the photos of the new building, which aren't great, but for some reason the search isn't working properly at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be such a push towards new houses and flats that really nice buildings are being flattened without thought. Where's the character in a new build?
