Seal of Approval
This frieze depicts Queen Victoria's jubilee and lists all the countries that Great Britain ruled over. It is situated over a bar on High Pavement in the Lace Market. I don't know what the building was first used as, but the moulding still looks very clean, considering it's been there for over a hundred years.

Aha, I something is amiss! Singapore is absent in the frieze! It was a British colonial enclave until 1965. Some other countries missing are Malaysia, Brunei and Hong Kong.

ReplyDeletethat looks brand new! it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we've got anything like that here in Norwich. I wonder if Queen Victoria ever visited Norfolk - since the Queen's favourite residence is here.
ReplyDeleteThe house is really yellow - but it's the way the light played on the wall. :)
Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo.
