Dead And Gone
Following on from some of the comments about my posting yesterday, I've managed to find a photo of the old Evening Post building in one of my reference books, where the Cornerhouse now stands. It was built in 1897 and has that typical Victorian Gothic look. It was quite a big building and lots of people worked there. I've shown you the building where the newspaper is now produced. Such a difference.

Looks like it was a beautiful building there.
ReplyDeleteBet the inside was just as good as the outside.
Very interesting.
why do people always have to turn down the most amazing looking buildings like this? i bet it's another one of those political issues. yikes!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for finding an old photo. -repeat sigh- Why oh why do we destroy our heritage? All over the world.
ReplyDeleteMy city came to its senses and has been preserving its heritage, for decades now. And that was one reason I wanted to capture some of it, in a blog. Today's entry isn't in that vein, it's just fun. But I have tried to capture many buildings, and hope to keep doing so.
And hope soon to have my Daily Photo Blogs link working correctly.
