It's Snap Time
I spotted these two characters who were looking after some small steam engines eating their snap in the sun. Snap is a slang word for food, possibly of Yorkshire origin. I can imagine them being called Charlie and Arthur, and beside their love of steam, like nothing more than supping a few pints of real ale and talking about fly wheels and flanges.

hello gentlemen. having a good day then?
ReplyDeleteWhat you got Charlie? Ive got cheese in mine.
ReplyDeleteIt was a close one in yesterday's funny caption competition but don't hold back on todays photo!
ReplyDeleteWell, then, this is just the steam engine created for power from the belt and not to be driven somewhere like our giant steam engines on iron wheels from the past.
ReplyDeleteThe photo is nice. I like their modern green plastic chairs. They sell those over here at the big box discount stores but green is getting old now and have been replaced "again" with white.
A nice post and a nice blog.
haha! good story-telling. and thanks for the yorkshire language lesson!
ReplyDeleteah yes "snap" is indeed a Yorkshire word - my dad used to take his snap to work in a "snap-tin"
ReplyDelete"dialect" though not "slang"
Gail's man; you are yesterdays winner of the second day of my Funny Caption Competition. What is the name you use on the CDP forum, so i can send you a Private Message, asking for the address to send the fabulous prize to?
ReplyDeleteI love this one!
ReplyDeleteJust catching up with comments and see you commented on the lunch in Monte Carlo - and so here I am, looking at your lunch, as you suggested.
ReplyDeleteApologies it's so late. Was difficult from America. Now back to normal life in Menton.
What characters yours are. I've never heard the word snap being used in this context. Fascinating. And of course they are called Charlie and Arthur. Love the photo.
meant to say, re your suggestion of photographing normal people in Monaco. I have featured police, firemen, etc, probably others. I'll need to check but will try and photograph more normal people in future. I've featured waiters on Larvotto Beach, only fairly recently actually. But yes, not everyone is rich, far from it. They don't live in Monaco tho, that's the point, but they do work there.
