Wollaton Park at the weekend came alive with military vigour. Veterans Weekend is an annual event to commemorate those that fought for our freedom down the years. It was also to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Royal Air Force.
Amongst the exhibitors, were a group of people that were re-enacting what the American Army were like during world War 2 when they lived in the park. Here's a young soldier sitting and waiting for his next order.
I bet that was a great day out, hope it was well attended.
ReplyDeleteYou might know the story:
ReplyDeleteWhen the GIs woke up on the first morning at Wollaton Park (having arrived at night), they were amazed to see all the deer outside their tents. Not realising it was someone's estate, they promptly grabbed their rifles and went hunting! (True story. Source: "Nottingham At War" video).
I thought you might have taken a picture of "Aspire" today? (I don't like it I'm afraid).
