Sky Watch Friday
This is our local power station and is coal fired. It produces electricity for all our needs. Fortunately I understand that the smoke that it produces into the atmosphere isn't too polluting, and as you can see the sky is still blue over it.

ReplyDeleteFirst, my apologies for a bit of cut and paste commenting. I have been doing the rounds via Bloglines and looking at all the pictures from my favourite photo blogs, but haven’t been leaving comments. Generally, I try to comment as much as I can (I know how good it is for ‘morale’ to know that someone is out there appreciating them), but after the birth of my second son, I am a bit knackered to think up something witty and insightful on the hop. Thus the resort to Control+C and Control+P!

These are the industrial heritage of the future - if we sruvive that logn

Oh my, hyde's comment is so ominous. Hope that he is in error. I'm surprised at the lack of pollution that you explained. The photo shows nothing but blue sky; hope it continues!
ReplyDeleteHi my friend.
ReplyDeleteIve got a few shots of these puffin billies - funny tho, they make great things to shoot at lol.
The wide squat chimneys are pumping out steam, not smoke!
ReplyDeleteFossil fuels are dirty by nature and there has to be pollution but it can be regulated and maybe is. Your sky is blue. What you see must be steam and not coal smoke. Coal smoke is black so you must have some kind of scrubbers at work.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.

I read recently that Robert Redford has signed a petition about not reinstating and re opening coal seams in the UK. The coal fires here produce such dirty smoke. Lovely blue sky here and funnels of white smoke do make a I have to say a a wonderful, if decieving to the atmosphere image.
ReplyDeleteHello from Colorado. Nice catch.
ReplyDeleteIs power station by coal fired not polluting? I don´t know as we mainly use hydroelectric/waterpower.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot effect.
Nice industrial image for sky watch. Glad that the sky ios still relatively clear above all of those chimneys.
ReplyDeleteWell, as far as I know, it's not smoke but condensated water (they are making rain *lol*) and the coal power plants are not 'dirty' any more. We have one, too, south-west of Cologne. But coal won't last forever, the same with oil and the only thing to do is to use more alternative energies - as we call it.
