Lion's Made
To highlight the Lion Aid charity, some activists covered the two stone lions in the Old Market Square with black cloths to demonstrate the disappearance of the big cats across Africa, through hunting and poaching etc.
No one was around collecting money or getting signatures, but of course they have a web site, which gives full details of their work.

That is a clever idea on their part :)
ReplyDeleteDo you have any photos of the lions uncovered?
That really is a clever way to make their point, kudos to them!
ReplyDeleteBrainy lot.
ReplyDeleteThank you for highlighting our cause. The lions were shrouded at 10am and the Lord Mayor came out to show her support. We had a great reception in Nottingham!
ReplyDeleteThe Campaign called "Where have all the lions gone?" will go through 13 cities. It started on March 2nd in Glasgow, and will culminate on March 31st with the shrouding of a Trafalgar Square Lion. (We have just shrouded Bath's Victoria Park's Lions today!)
Thank you to everyone for your lovely comments.
If anyone does want to make a (much needed!) donation, either a one-off or a monthly subscription, you can do so through our website www.lionaid.org
Thank you for your support!

Oh yes, I remember the lions well, passed them every morning on my way to work
ReplyDeleteI have taken pictures of my husband against the backdrop of the lions. I hope their cause was successful.
