Yesterday & today many local council & government workers across the country went on strike over low pay (or non pay) rises. The strike has affected all sorts of areas, libraries, bin collections, markets etc. I try to keep politics out of blogging, but I do think they have a point when they are asked to accept a pay rise which is less than than the inflation rate; making it effectively a pay cut.
My photo here shows a rally in the Market Square and a union person telling everyone why they are striking.
I thought of taking a photo today, too, but then I thought that the multinational corporation I work for has been handing out 0% pay rises for many years; my opinions were divided. So, I tinged my cycle bell merily in support and rolled on by.

Absoloutely agree with the strike.
ReplyDeleteBelow inflation payrise is just not acceptable. I shall leave it at that. Well done for showing this.
