Numerical Sunday - 11
Everyone knows about pound shops these days, where you can buy all sorts of stuff for one golden coin. Most of what they sell is rubbish, but you can find the odd gem now and again.
To try and compete with the 3 shops we have in town, one is selling everything for 99p each. I think £1 is easier, as you don't have to carry all those extra pennies for change.

As you prob know, 99c in Australia is $1 anyway since we did away with 1 and 2 cent coins - everything where cash is paid is rounded up or down to the nearest 5 cents! Do many people say "keep the change", or do the local banks have to provide rolls of 1p coins for the float each day???
ReplyDeleteWe don't even have a £1 shop here. I do miss them.
ReplyDeletebabooshka you are missing nowt - we've two else three £1 shops here and it is 99% rubbish - not seen a 99p shop yet though - things must be desperate in Snottingham - I heard on the news that they are threatening to tax businesses for providing employee carparks!
