A Touch Of The Trent
Here's a shot of a section of the River Trent that crosses Nottingham close to West Bridgford. From the foreground you can see the Lady Bay Bridge, Nottingham Forest's stadium, Trent Bridge and the Victoria Embankment park in the background, where they stage such events as the Riverside Festival. This was about the only familiar view we got, before we drifted off into unknown territory.

An uncle of mine lived in Nottingham and many years ago he told me that the River Trent was the boundary between the City and the County of Nottingham. The oddity was that the Nottingham Forest ground, called the City Ground, was not actually in the City of Nottingham, but the County. Just off your photo on the opposite side of the river to Forest's ground though, Meadow Lane, Notts County's ground, wasn't in the County of Nottingham, but in the City. Don't know if this is true about the river being a boundary, but the story has always intrigued me.
