Faces From The Past



These two heads are over the entrances to St Mary's Church in the Lace Market. I don't know who they are of, although the man reminds me of William Shakespeare. I think they are more pleasing to look at than some gargoyles.

  5. They have a lot of hair on them back then. It's interesting because they probably don't bathe as often as we do now and yet they have longer hair and beards.

  6. Fantastic shots. I like these "extra" features that are on so many wonderful older buildings. Even gargoyles can be pleasing as sometimes the stonemasons will carve different faces for each gargoyle.
