These two heads are over the entrances to St Mary's Church in the Lace Market. I don't know who they are of, although the man reminds me of William Shakespeare. I think they are more pleasing to look at than some gargoyles.

ReplyDeleteThey have a lot of hair on them back then. It's interesting because they probably don't bathe as often as we do now and yet they have longer hair and beards.
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots. I like these "extra" features that are on so many wonderful older buildings. Even gargoyles can be pleasing as sometimes the stonemasons will carve different faces for each gargoyle.
