Physical Graffiti

March the First and it's theme day. Which this month is street art. I'm not sure whether graffiti can be classed as art, or is in fact vandalism. I know sometimes if it is done well, it can enhance a blank building, or as in my example, can just look a mess.

Quite a number of DP's are participating, and their links are below. Please try to visit as many as you can, but take note of varying time zones around the world.

  1. I think that some of the lettering on that graffiti is kind of "neat" :).

    Have a nice Theme Day!

  2. Most of the time we just see a big mess in our citys. It is a visual polution :(

  3. I think both kinds exist. I see fr more examples of serious-intent street art and stencilled wall art than I do destructive, but then I go lookign for it occasionally! Like the Green Boy

  4. Looks like some competing graffiti artists.

  5. All of the graffiti in Mobay really is just one big mess and really contributes to the "uglification" of our city.

  6. i agree that some of the lettering looks kind of neat, but i still can't read or make out most of it... this one is a little messy =), but a nice pic nonetheless...

  7. As you say it's a mess but it does create quite an interesting picture to look at.

you were right about Monte Carlo! No graffiti as such, except that the art on the bench could have been just that. I was lucky!

  8. you are right, some graffitis look very arty but they are very hard to find in my opinion. this one looks like a bunch of autographs! :^)

  9. Cool choice. It shows the other end of the scale of artistic talent that graffiti takes.

  10. I guess it is in the eye of the beholder isn't it?

  11. The lettering is interesting, and makes for a neat photo! But, this one does border on vandalism to me...

  12. I think this lot is definitely on the vandalism side of the divide

  13. This looks like a war of graffiti taggers! Imagine if they all used the same color paint - it would just be one big scribble! What am I saying - it is one big scribble!

    Happy Theme Day!

  15. There is something with a redeeming value in there, lol.

To answer the question you didn't ask of me, but I saw on MDP ... advertising is art.
