He's Just A Poor Boy, From A Poor Family
This line from one of the most best loved songs probably gives it away of my featured rock star. It is of course Freddie Mercury, lead singer with legendary band Queen.
Queen first came to Montreux in 1978 to record their album 'Jazz'. Freddie fell in love with the area and bought a house there. It's also where he died in November 1991.
The statue of Freddie overlooks Lake Geneva and was made by Irena Sedlecka. It was unveiled in 1996 by close friends and family.
If you didn't know, the line is from Bohemian Rhapsody, and was the British Christmas number one single in 1975.
Keep on rockin Freddie, wherever you are.

ReplyDeleteFestive greetings of the season, whatever the festival or season means for you! I don’t get much time these days to visit and leave comments for all my bloggy friends…but love catching up with pics when I can.
One of the best parody's I ever heard was done on Queen's Another One Bites the Dust, but it was about the Detroit Lions Football (US version) team, and it was titled "Another one kicks our butts". One of the funniest things I ever heard, but I can't find a copy any more :(
ReplyDeleteNice photo shot. I like the shadow image. Cool.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gail's Man.
