Coat Of Arms - But Where's The Sleeves?
Whilst tasting the Freetrade chocolate in the town hall, I took a photo of the coat of arms of my local council. Although I have been in the town hall many times, it has tended to be in the evening, so it was a nice change to be there in daylight. I'm curious as to what the flying bull is meant to represent. Other than the obvious!

ReplyDeleteCan't answer your query but it is rather beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe have a saying over here which I can't write down but the flying bull probably represents that.
ReplyDeleteMuch better than the Cheltenham one!

ReplyDeleteNicked a bit of info from here...http://www.fleurdelis.com/coatofarms.htm
ReplyDeleteHere's my interpretation (10 people will probably come up with 10 different ones)...
Bull/Buffalo - Valour, bravery, generosity
Bull's Horns - Strength and fortitude
Wings - Swiftness and protection
Helmet - When depicted on the shield, denotes wisdom and security in defense; strength, protection, invulnerability
Rose - Mark of the seventh son; Hope and joy;
Red Rose - Grace and beauty
Wavy Line - Sea or water
Bee - Efficient industry
