Tanks A Lot
This tank belongs to the Queen's Royal Lancers. They were parading in the city centre this morning, after returning from Afghanistan. I would have liked to have covered the parade, but it began at 11am, and as I can't go to lunch before 12, they had all dispersed to meet up with other people, and get ready for their meal in the Council House. Although I saw many of them enjoying what was on offer at the Christmas market, and I took a photo or two of some that were having a skate on the open air ice rink.

This looks pretty scary!
ReplyDeleteI'm probably going to be in a old hippy, non-patriotic, you-should-be-supporting-our-brave-lads-in-Afghanistan, pacifist, pinko minority here... but I think it's shocking that these weapons of war should be trotted out so casually in the city like this.
ReplyDeleteAnd it seems particularly ironic that it should happen during the season of peace and goodwill.
well u 'll notice that the tanks were'nt even dirtyed in afghanistan...not even a bullet hole..the military warmongering of the west against generally these days muslim peoples or countries since they have nobody left to fight after teh communists collapsed...defence industries are teh only thing left in the west with everything else made in china...just saving jobs...the west could save billions by just ending the doctrine of military superiority and probably turn the world green or pink...
ReplyDeleteBrian Clough looks like he is surrendering.
