The Future Is... Green
As promised, here's a picture of probably Nottingham's ugliest building, the new contemporary art gallery in the Lace Market. For an historic area of the city, the building sticks out like a sore thumb. I think it has no appealing features whatsoever, some fans of modern architecture may disagree. I think more effort should have gone into the design, so it blended in more with the area.

Yikes! That thing is ugly. You should inform Prince Charles. He will probably tear it down.
ReplyDeleteUgly yes. It looks more like a warehouse. Maybe you could suggest a public painting contest? Add a few murals between those hideous beams. : )))))
ReplyDeleteIt is rather ugly and industrial.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad.
ReplyDeleteOh mamma mia! It looks like TEsco in Brno.
ReplyDeleteYes, it IS ugly. Maybe to set off the art inside? (Although... I don't like contemporary art, it might look just like the rest of the building. Oh well.)
ReplyDeleteMost "modern art" falls into the same bewildering category "what the hell is that?" kind of thing. I am not a fan of the looks of this place either. It looks like a deserted city jail. LOL
ReplyDeleteI have the issue of "breast feeding" on my main blog today Pick a Peck of Pixels
Wow who was the planning officer that let this plan through - he must be on another planet.
ReplyDeleteit may be ugly on the outside but its the inside that counts! right? lol
ReplyDeleteUck, no more said.
ReplyDeleteIts good to show these photos GM, hope they take note.
That has to be one of the most awful looking buildings, its more like an industrial unit!
ReplyDeleteDefinately doesn't fit in with the surrounding architecture.
after seeing the photo and the title, I half expected a reference to that Charlton Heston film "Soylent Green" the building even looks like something from that film.
ReplyDeleteI take it the green refers to something else?
Great Blog GM.
